I cannot recommend this place enough. Kakoli and the lovely team of people at this property run a fantastic operation without being try hard or five star sterile. It's tucked into an every day residential village but easy walking distance to the main tourist district, so you get access and authenticity in one. The pool is a dream and the breakfasts are yummy. From Ramji's efforts to budge the monkey from the pool roof with a catapult to Vijay's lovely message checking we hadn't crashed the scooter on our way to auroville, to how kakoli comes to check everything is fine and share local tips every morning, everyone went the extra mile to make our stay comfortable. It's part an old property and part newly done using traditional techniques so you get history and modern comfort in one. Stay here!

Great breakfasts, great hospitality, friendly staff, super host, swanky and tasteful interiors, beautiful pool and more is what you will get at this quaint heritage place you wouldn't mind calling home. Loved the attention to detail in terms of the ceramic wear, the curtains and the overall decor. Thank you for allowing us to come in a little earlier than check-in time, we were zonked and the room helped us rest. Kakoli, Ramji and Vijay have been amazingly hospitable and we would love to come back and spend more time.

This property is as described in the AirB&B app. Very clean and comfortable with a great pool, very nice tree covered gardens and a lovely breakfast room. The walk into town is about 12 minutes, through a fishing village, but very safe to walk through, with many of the locals saying hello after a couple of days. It's generally quiet after 9:30pm, which is great. We are already planning to go back, and would not hesitate to go back to Mantra

We had a lovely time at Kakoli’s place. This heritage property is beautiful and very well done up. The pool at the property is clean and available exclusively to each guest according to the time slot booked by them. Kakoli and Jyoti are extremely warm people. They took keen interest in guiding us and suggesting things to experience while in Pondicherry. Caretaker Ramji is a warm gentleman who goes through his various roles with a big smile on his face and is always ready to help. Manager Vijay too was very prompt in his response to any of our requests and helped us with good suggestions on our commuting requirements. A special mention for housekeeping staff Vanaja who always made sure that everything in our room is in order and kept it immaculately clean. Breakfast too was delicious especially the fresh south indian dishes served everyday. Overall, a beautiful experience at this lovely property. Go there to relax and rejuvenate. I am definitely staying there again whenever i go back to Pondicherry! 

Das AirBnB ist fast ein kleines Resort. Sehr ruhig in einer Seitenstraße in Puducherry gelegen, die City dennoch gut erreichbar. Im Resort ein schöner gepflegter Garten. Das Personal sehr bemüht und freundlich (gelegentlich ein kleines Trinkgeld und ein nicht arrogantes Verhalten hilft dabei). Wir hatten beinahe eine kleine Ferienwohnung mit großem Zimmer, Badezimmer und Küchen-Mitbenützung (sehr praktisch der Kühlschrank, wenn man will kann man auch kochen). Der Hausmeister ist entzückend, ein bemühter Manager hilft einem bei der Organisation von Ausflügen etc. Frühstück reichhaltig und delicious in einer schönen, angenehm belüfteten Halle. Ausgesprochene Empfehlung!

This place is a secret tip! Since I travel regularly to Pondicherry, I should actually try to keep the quality secret, so that I can still find space there in the future. But that would be unfair to the creators, because they have created a really beautiful place and are great hosts. A wonderfully renovated complex with an exceptionally long pool, beautiful common rooms and clean and stylishly furnished rooms. Very well situated and pleasantly quietly hidden behind high walls.

This place is very special . This is not just a place to stay it is an artwork in itself . You will love every nook and corner of this place , you will probably want to spend an afternoon alone on a balcony with a book or just gazing at the big beautiful courtyard . The pool is also quite nice . I loved the calmness that this place brings in you .

This was a perfect experience. The building is historic & beautiful, with modern facilities. Our accommodation was cosy, serviced daily & very comfortable. The gardens are gorgeous & the pool sublime. The staff are wonderful & couldn’t be more helpful. They made everything easy. The food here is also amazing & much better than restaurants. So peaceful, yet a short walk from the bustling town.

I had a wonderful time at Kariappa House. It's a beautiful homestay, offering the much needed calm from a chaotic lifestyle. While I did spend my time discovering Pondicherry and Auroville, I enjoyed staying in at the Kariappa House, enjoying the aesthetic of this property. The staff is most helpful and available in case one needs anything. Kakoli herself lives on the property, making sure the guests are taken care of. While one easily chooses to live in the white/heritage town, I'd a recommend staying at Kariappa House for a sneak peek into the local culture.

This is one of the best Airbnb experiences we have ever had! Please book this place without thinking twice. 1. The house is absolutely gorgeous with thoughtful and classy touches in every single corner 2. The manager Vijay is a delight to deal with and he’s a wonderful person. The entire staff is great and oh, so helpful! 3. Our meeting with Kakoli was brief but she’s a wonderfully warm person too :) 4. The room was beyond beautiful. I have no other words to express it. I’m saying all this after staying in some of the best Airbnb’s in the country. This place is definitely right among the top! Everything about this whole experience was amazing, it’s had a beautiful aura and we look forward to getting back there soon! In my opinion, this place is a MUST stay in Pondy. Go for it, without a doubt.
